About the Event

It is the Centennial (1923 – 1999) of Dr. Wynona Moore Lipman, the first African American woman elected to the New Jersey Senate. Called both the “Iron Magnolia” and the “Steel Magnolia,” Wynona Lipman turned her community-based activism into a brilliant career as a New Jersey Senator from 1972 until her death in 1999. She was a trailblazing politician advocating for civil rights, women’s rights, African Americans and other people of color, children and their family advocates, urban communities, and small businesses. PLEASE JOIN US. Registration required; use the RSVP button below.
